SAF Change

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is preparing to continue its process of leadership renewal next month.

REAR Admiral (RADM) Ng Chee Peng, 41, will take over from Rear Admiral (RADM) Chew Men Leong as Chief of Navy on March 29.

RADM Ng is currently Chief of Staff – Joint Staff, he joined the SAF in Dec 1988 and was awarded the President’s and SAF Overseas Scholarship in 1989.

Outgoing RADM Chew was instrumental in operationalising key aspects of the navy’s 3rd Generation transformation.

These included the formation of the Maritime Security Task Force and the establishment of the Information Fusion Centre at the Changi Command and Control Centre to enhance regional maritime information sharing and collaboration with other navies and maritime agencies.

Also, under RADM Chew’s command, the navy made significant contributions to the counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden, deploying two landing ships tank and a Command team to the multinational Combined Task Force 151.

RADM Chew will be returning to the Administrative Service.
