Skiff Shooting
An Australian warship has fired on a stolen skiff being used as a pirate ship in the Arabian Sea, as part of its role in a multinational anti-pirate operation.
“HMAS Stuart” machine-gunned the skiff being used by pirates in raids on shipping.
The Stuart caught sight of the “MV Sinar Kudus” cargo carrier, stolen a week previously and believed to be a pirate ”mother ship”.
The skiff was being towed by the ship, and the disruption this would cause to the pirate action group was deemed to be positive.
