Special Force

United Arab Emirates special forces stormed a cargo ship hijacked in the Arabian Sea, freeing the crew and detaining the pirates on Saturday.

The bulk carrier “MV Arrilah-1” came under attack at dawn Friday while en route from Australia to Dubai’s Jebel Ali port.

On Saturday UAE’s special forces, backed by the air force, regained control of the ship off the coast of neighbouring Oman. The pirates surrendered to the troops.

The successful rescue of the “MV Arrilah-I” reportedly marks the opening salvo of a tougher Federal tack against piracy, a Dubai-based security expert has said. The incident, the first time UAE forces had participated in a counter-piracy operation, “is a significant milestone,” he said today….the impression is that, ”the UAE government has had enough.”
