On the 5th April, an armed security team prevented an attack on the ‘Pacific Opal’.
During the exchange the team, from security company PVI, recorded video evidence of the incident. 24 hours after the incident the Pirate Action Group (PAG) left the area, a PAG matching the same description was intercepted and arrested of suspected piracy by the Finnish warship Pohjanmaa, part of the EUNAVFOR.
As the use of armed security teams increases, it is considered likely that the importance of video evidence gathering will increase. We have long been advocates of video head-cams for security personnel.
