Recent pirate activity has centred near Latitude 06 09N, Longitude 050 33E.

At 0908 UTC 16 May, a previously hijacked ship “MV Orna” was reported making good a course of 072degrees at a speed or approximately  7kts.

The NATO Counter Piracy Operation, “Ocean Shield”  it is likely now that ship is being used as a pirate mother vessel. Vessels transiting near this area are advised to navigate with extreme caution.
