The master of a hijacked UAE ship has died of a brain haemorrhage. Captain Kumar suffered a stroke in captivity onboard “RAK Afrikana”, which pirates abandoned after reportedly receiving $1.2m. He was credited

with playing a significant role in preventing the pirates from using the vessel as a mother ship to launch further attacks, and was among the 26 men who were kept hostage for 11 months following the hijacking.
