In Fighting

At least three people have died and two other injured following a heavy fight within a group of Somali pirates in the Hobyo district of Somalia.

All those killed during the fight were said to be pirates while the other two who sustained injuries were bystanders caught up in the cross fire.

Authorities claim they successfully managed to mediate the warring pirates to curb further hostilities within their group.

There are increasing fears of clashes between rival pirate groups ashore, and tensions appear to be on the rise as the monsoon confines most pirates to the shore. Some experts believe the pirates are engaging in “turf war” in order to emerge in a stronger position when the weather allows them to resume their activities out at sea.
