Tech War

Two American experts, have presented a remote-controlled aircraft capable of launching airborne cyber attacks and hijack mobile phone calls developed to combat piracy telematics.

The new drone aircraft, called WASP (Wireless Aerial Surveillance Platform) is able to infiltrate the Wi-Fi network, intercept calls made by mobile phone, disrupt radio signals and penetrate Web sites wirelessly.

Given the recent court account in the US of pirates using mobile phones to access information on hostages, and the long belief that they have been employing technology to both arrange and orchestrate attacks, as well as to negotiate in the aftermath, and such a capability to disrupt their operations remotely could be hugely significant.
