Boxship Attack

An MSC containership has survived a run-in with pirates off the coast of Somalia.  Pirates targeted the 2,300-teu MSC Jeanne (built 1979) as it headed away from the port of Mombasa on Monday, sources say.

A team of six using two skiffs attacked the ship but did not press ahead with a boarding attempt, it is thought.  A helicopter from a Turkish warship was dispatched to the scene and confirmed the vessel was safe.
