Greater Cooperation

Naval forces of Pakistan extend offer for greater cooperation with Seychelles.

Captain Tarique Hussain and other senior officers of the Pakistani Navy ships PNS NASR and PNS TIPPU SULTAN met with the Seychelles Minister of Home Affairs and Transport, Mr. Joel Morgan, this week to discuss how to extend the bilateral cooperation between Seychelles and Pakistan in the fight against piracy.

The delegation also met with the Seychelles Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne this week.

During the meeting, the Pakistani Navy expressed its wish to increase its cooperation with the Seychelles. Discussions centered on the anti-piracy efforts in the region and the work of naval coalitions, in view of the upcoming transfer of leadership, where the Pakistani Navy will be taking over from the Turkish Navy as the Command of Combined Task Force 151 (CTF 151).

Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne expressed the Seychelles’ readiness to work with the Pakistani Navy, and thanked the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its extensive efforts to ensure security in the Indian Ocean region as part of the CTF151.
