Another Lynx off to fight pirates

Yesterday the Danish Air Force sent off a new Lynx helicopter to NATO’s Operation Ocean Shield. It will participate in fighting piracy with the frigate Iver Huitfeldt.

In October employees and a Lynx from 723 Squadron left Karup for the pirate ridden waters off Somalia.

For a long time the plan has been to replace the helicopter, but it happens a little earlier than planned. Iver Huitfeldt is currently in port in the Seychelles to change crew, and therefore it was decided to change now.

A Russian IL-76 transport aircraft is to transport the two helicopters back and forth.
