French warship FS Courbet, operating as part of Operation Atalanta, escorted a World Food Programme (WFP) ship carrying food and aid for the Somali people.

EU Naval Force French Warship FS Courbet Provides Sea Escort For World Food Programme Ship For Somali People

Between 26 February and 5 March 2013, French warship FS Courbet, operating as part of EU Naval Force counter piracy mission Operation Atalanta, together with an embarked Estonian Vessel Protection Detachment (VPD), escorted a World Food Programme (WFP) ship that was carrying much-needed food and aid for the Somali people around the Horn of Africa.

After arriving safely in the port of Dar Es Salam, Tanzania on 5 March, the captain of the WFP ship thanked the crew of FS Courbet and Estonian VPD for their protection and support.

FS Courbet and the Estonian VPD have now resumed their counter piracy patrols off the coast of Somalia.
