Enforcement of ISPS Code on Non-compliant Ports Begins
In a bid to ensure compliance, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) said it has began the process of installing what it called ‘black flags’ in Nigerian ports that are not International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code compliant.
It also said it would install Nigerian flags and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) flags in ports that are ISPS Code compliant.
These are part of the measures the agency has put in place to ensure it meets the ultimatum given to the Nigerian government to boost security at her maritime domain by the United Nations Coast Guard.
