Charge sheet filed against crew members of US ship

TUTICORIN: The Q branch police on Monday filed a charge sheet at judicial magistrate court-1 here against 35 crew members of the MV Seaman Guard Ohio, the US-based ship detained for trespassing into Indian territorial water carrying arms and ammunition.

The 2,158-page charge sheet has named 45 persons as accused, including the owners of the Advanfort – the US-based maritime security agency, 35 crew members and five locals who helped in supplying diesel to the ship. Three more locals named in the charge sheet are absconding. The judicial magistrate court at Tuticorin granted conditional bail on December 26 to the crew members of the ship on the ground that the charge sheet was not filed within 60 days of the arrest.
