Chinese naval fleet pays four-day goodwill visit to Cameroon

The 16th escort task force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) arrived at the harbour of Douala, Cameroon, on May 30, 2014, for a four-day-long goodwill visit toCameroon.

This is the first time for a Chinese naval escort task force to visit Cameroon. The fleetincluded guide missile frigate “Yancheng” and “Luoyang”. The guided missile frigates willbe open to public, and a reception will be held on the deck. The taskforce will also visitorphanages to carry out public service activity.

During the visit, Chinese and Cameroonian navies will conduct anti-piracy joint drill for the first time, in a bid to strengthen mutual understanding and deepen mutual trust, as well as to improve the ability to maintain maritime security.
