John Iwori

The designated authourity (DA) for the implementation of the International Ships and Ports Facility Security (ISPS) code, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has tasked all terminal operators and jetty owners across the country on the need to comply with the provisions of the code.

The agency argued that if all stakeholders comply with the provisions of the code, it will bring about a secured atmosphere for businesses to thrive in the nation’s seaports.

The DA also issued what it called “requirements” that must be complied by all port operators for the implementation of the code to be successful in the country.

These were disclosed by the NIMASA Assistant Director, ISPS Code, Mr. Hakeem Oderinde at the 10 year anniversary of the ISPS Code in Nigeria, jointly organised  by the agency and the Port and Facility Security Officers’ Forum, Lagos Maritime Security Zone in Lagos.
