SEACAT gets underway

Naval exercise to focus on piracy. 

13th maritime exercise involving 7 navies to focus on piracy and terrorism

SINGAPORE – Sailors from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)’s Maritime Security Task Force are participating in an annual maritime exercise called Southeast Asia Cooperation And Training (SEACAT) with navies from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and the United States.

The Exercise SEACAT series, which started in 2002, will see navies practicing maritime information-sharing and coordination of maritime security responses to seaborne threats such as piracy and terrorism from August 11 to 15.
