Iranian Navy’s 31st fleet warships dock in Salalah

Muscat: The Iranian Navy’s 31st fleet of warships docked in the port of Salalah yesterday as part of its campaign to combat piracy on the high seas.

The fleet comprises a destroyer Bayandor, and a warship Bandar Abbas, an informed source told Times of Oman.

According to the source, the fleet is involved in anti-piracy operations with a mission to secure naval routes and protect Iranian merchant vessels and tankers and those of other countries in its area of activity from Gulf of Aden in northern Somalia to the Sea of Oman. The fleet is expected to stay in Salalah for three days, but the duration of its stay depends on the traffic at the port.
