MPHRP Provides Hostage Counselling

MPHRP Provides Counselling for Asphalt Venture Crew

The released Asphalt Venture seafarers enjoyed their first night reunited with their families at a Mumbai Hotel. The following day the seafarers were counselled by Dr Harish Shetty, and his assistant Dr Samrine, who helped them to look forward in their life. Dr Shetty motivated each one of them and along with their wives. Chirag Bahri, South Asia Regional Director for MPHRP, said that during the last 4 years, not only had the seafarers suffered but also their families had been through a very difficult phase to survive, therefore, they should stay together and help each other to come out of the ordeal.

All the crew and their families are quite happy and very relieved now. MPHRP has arranged sight seeing tours for the crew and their families – the crew were very excited to spend some time with their families and with their children after such a long gap.

Earlier, the seafarers were provided with financial support by MPHRP’s partners and The High commission of India in Nairobi to be able to spend some money on buying gifts for their families, be able to have good food and to celebrate with them.

MPHRP is grateful to the National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) and the Maritime Association of Shipowners Ship Managers and Agents (MASSA) for their care, assistance and support, and also its funders the ITF Seafarers’ Trust, the TK Foundation, Seafarers UK and all of its partners for their support at this time.
