Angola Reaffirms Support for Fight Against Maritime Piracy

The Angolan permanent representative to the Maritime Organisation (IMO), Miguel Gaspar Fernandes Neto, recently said in London that the Angolan Government remains committed to the prevention and suppression of piracy and other illegal maritime activities in the Gulf of Guinea.

Miguel Neto who is also the ambassador of Angola to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, was speaking at the opening of the 94th session of the Maritime Safety Committee, held in London, having reaffirmed the position of the Angolan Government on the fight against maritime piracy.

For the Angolan diplomat, the acts of piracy and armed robbery, as well as trafficking of arms, drugs or human beings, are a genuine threat to security in the Gulf of Guinea.
