Coast Guard task forces to provide maritime security for Pope’s visit

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has created two Maritime Task Forces to provide maritime security for His Holiness Pope Francis during his apostolic visit here in the Philippines on January 15-19, 2015.

Coast Guard chief Vice Admiral Rodolfo D. Isorena issued a directive to all Coast Guard Districts and Units to undertake serious maritime security operations against the alarming security threat against the Pope.

The task force aims to ensure that threats which could possibly be initiated along the coastal waters will be negated. The coast guard will particularly secure the vicinity of the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Luneta Park in Manila, and in Tacloban City.
