ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
BIMCO (www.bimco.org)BIMCO is the world’s largest Ship Owner Association, with 2,300 members in around 130 countries. They provide a wide range of services to their global membership – which includes ship owners, operators, managers, brokers and agents. BIMCO’s core objective is to facilitate the commercial operations of their members by developing standard contracts and clauses, and providing quality information, advice and education. You will hear a global perspective on maritime security as it is today covering piracy, stowaways, drugs and refugees and the need for communication between CSOs to help fight illegal maritime activities to keep trade and ship operations flowing profitably.Combined Maritime Forces, Bahrain (http://combinedmaritimeforces.com)You will receive a detailed overview of the current state of play in regards to the counter-piracy mission off the Horn of Africa.

In reviewing recent piracy trends, Captain Nault will emphasize the steadfast commitment of international maritime forces against this threat going forward. Of particular note is the data supporting the tangible results and direct benefit that BMP combined with military presence has brought to the drastic reduction in piracy events over the past three years.

In discussing the state of affairs on the ground in Somalia it will be clear, however, that the counter-piracy mission is far from completed. Continued cooperation and collaboration, such as can be seen through our recent partnership with the CSO Alliance, is essential to future success and are clear examples where the military/ industry bond is stronger than ever and should be encouraged to grow into the foreseeable future.
