Indonesian government approves funding boost for maritime security agency

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has approved an additional IDR726.3 trillion (USD56.5 million) in funding for the country’s newly established maritime security agency (Badan Keamanan Laut, or BAKAMLA).

A report carried by Indonesian news agency Antara, citing DPR member Yani Miryam, indicated that the additional funding will be reflected in the Indonesian government’s budget for 2015. BAKAMLA had previously been allocated IDR519.5 trillion for the year.
