Asia piracy incidents hit five-year low

Singapore-headquartered anti-piracy watchdog ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) reported 11 cases of piracy and armed robbery against ships in February, compared with 14 cases in the corresponding period last year.

Among these one was a piracy incident, while 10 were armed robberies against ships. No attempted incidents were reported in February.

The total number of incidents in February marked a five-year low, compared with corresponding period during 2011-14.
