Somalia: Puntland begins 24-hour sea patrols to counter illegal fishing

Somalia’s north eastern government of Puntland has commenced twenty-hour sea petrol after dispatching well-equipped marine forces off coast Puntland, RBC Reports.

In a well arranged ceremony attended by minister of fisheries Abdinur Elmi Biindhe, well-trained and equipped marine forces were displayed before sent to the Puntland waters to counter illegal fishing and piracy.

Biindhe, Puntland’s minister of fisheries and marine resources stated that the government has taken a stiff decision to patrol its waters where foreign boats are making vast illegal fishing.
