Ghana AG Delays Trial of Suspected Nigerian Pirates

Accra — The Inability of the office of the Attorney-General to advise the state has been cited for stalling the trial of the eight suspected Nigerian pirates and their two Ghanaian accomplices.

According to the Police, the State was still awaiting advice from the Attorney-General’s department on the duplicate docket, thus prompting series of adjournments.

For three consecutive hearings, the Chief Magistrate, Ms. Efua Sackey had to adjourn the matter, because the prosecution was not ready to proceed with the trial.
