KOCHI: In a major policy shift, Indian Navy is all set to welcome women pilots on board. Currently, women officers are recruited to executive branches including air support wings but not for flying duties.

”We have adopted a policy to allow women officers to fly all types of aircraft except combat platforms. The decision, which will soon be submitted to the government, will see them being deployed even on maritime reconnaissance missions,” navy chief Admiral R K Dhowan told ToI in an interview.
