Maritime Drug Trafficking: Finding a Lasting Solution

Being an island nation situated in one of the most strategically important ocean masses in the world, Sri Lanka is fortunate in many ways as a country that has a great deal of future potential to obtain enormous benefits from the ocean.

One of the most important Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOCs) as well as Sea Lanes of Trade (SLOTs) runs just South of Sri Lanka. Over 200 ships transit our waters carrying energy from Gulf to China, Japan and Korea and empty tankers the other way.
