Soldiers Arrest 1,610 Pirates, Others In Niger Delta
Authorities of the military operations in the Niger Delta region known as Operation Pulo Shield (OPS) have confirmed the arrest of 1,610 suspects over their involvement in cases of sea piracy, illegal bunkering and militancy within the nine states of the region.
According to the OPS, the special security operation also led to the seizure of 50 oil vessels, 200 Barges and recovery of high calibre weapons during raids of suspected militia camps in the region.
