PHL to raise China missiles on Woody Island in Asean meet in Laos

Defying China’s opposition, the Philippines will raise the territorial disputes in the South China Sea and Beijing’s installation of surface-to-air missiles on the disputed Woody Island when Southeast Asian ministers meet informally in Laos this week.

Manila’s move to raise the sea row in the Association of South East Asian Nations meeting to be attended by the bloc’s 10 Foreign Ministers on February 25 to 27 reflects its worries over Beijing’s aggressive actions and enduring concerns on its island-building in seven disputed areas in the resource-rich waters.
