Asket gets award nod

PMSC broker gets awards nomination

ASKET Ltd Shortlisted for Lloyds List North American Awards 2016

We are delighted to announce that ASKET Ltd has made the shortlist for the Lloyd’s List North American Awards for 2016.

The awards are to recognise the best in shipping during the last year in the North American region and the winners of each category will be announced during a gala evening on May 19th at Pier Sixty, New York.

ASKET Ltd is a truly independent security broker working with and for the shipping industry, one of our clients recently said we were a ‘breath of fresh air’.

ASKET was established in 2013, our vision was to set up an independent brokerage and be able to support an industry being hammered by costs of manpower, time, insurance and armed guards.

Our aim was to use our knowledge gained from all sides of the industry to take the pressure away from the risk managers and CSO’s, and in turn help to ensure the safety and well being of the seafarers that keep our world turning.

We have come a long way since 2013, our free broking service is now available for vessels operating in West Africa as well as the Horn of Africa and we are driving compliance of Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSC’s) by monitoring standards, insurance and legalities on a transit by transit basis, removing companies who are taking short cuts or may put our clients at risk.

Blending an understanding of current risk, quality, realistic practical standards and creating a healthy competitive tension amongst PMSC’s is at the core of ASKET’s independent brokerage service.

Our Free Maritime Security App

The free maritime security app was originally designed as a free resource for Masters and CSO’s it is now being utilised by a great number of people involved in all aspects of vessel management and security including government organisations, Navies, ship brokers, ship managers, charterers, insurers and security professionals.

Originally designed as a 10 page resource for the Master and his bridge team to use during a suspicious approach or attack, based on lessons learned from a Pirate attack in the Indian Ocean in 2013, the app has grown to over 60 pages and other resources include live alerts and updates.

The app available on android and iOS provides both proactive and reactive resources and maritime security short cuts, links and useful advice all at the users fingertips that includes;

Intelligence and news updates
Best management practices links and guides
BMP4 Guidelines for HRA and West Africa
Anti Piracy bridge cards
Security checklists and ISPS guides for use in port as well as at sea
Emergency numbers and links for vessels transiting SE Asia, West Africa, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
Bridge and crew training aide memoires
Skiff and Dhow recognition guides
Crisis management guides
Guides on resourcing and managing on board security teams
Resources from IMO, BIMCO, MSCHOA, ReCAAP, MTISC GoG, etc etc.

The app is being updated regularly to keep pace with the dynamic security environment and has been designed so that it can be used off line, we are adding pages as we go to keep up with the feedback we receive from our users and the industry.

A limited number of partner spaces are available which help us to keep the app free to all.
