Navy stops 115 pirates from attacking Iranian tanker

Iranian Navy’s 41st fleet rescued an Iranian-owned oil tanker from 12 pirate boats carrying 115 armed pirates in the vicinity of Bab el-Mandeb Strait which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

With the timely appearance of Iranian Navy’s 41st fleet early Saturday in the vicinity of Bab el-Mandeb Strait located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa, 115 armed pirates sailing on 12 boats who were planning to attack an Iranian-owned oil tanker were forced to flee the scene.

According to the reports, the pirates made another aggressive attack on the tanker within the next three hours, but the attack was once again foiled by Martyred Admiral Naghdi Destroyer belonging to the Iranian Navy’s 41st fleet.
