Tanker with 5 Russian crewmen detained off Libya

A tanker with a crew of Russian, Ukrainian and Greek members was detained off the Libyan coast on June 28, both the vessel and the sailors are currently in Tripoli, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“According to the information we are receiving, on June 28 the coastal guard of the western Libyan town of Zawiya detained the Temeron tanker sailing under the flag of Belize (a Central American state), which was carrying petrol. According to the information we obtained, among the vessel’s crew are five Russians, as well as Ukrainian and Greek citizens. The tanker was convoyed to the military port of Tripoli. All sailors are there at present,” the statement said.
