Maritime Insecurity: The Nigerian Senate has a court dedicated to pirates

Faced with the incessant problem of maritime insecurity, the Nigerian Senate proposes the creation of a court dedicated to piracy cases. The goal, speed up legal proceedings against these criminal acts.

Nigeria wants to end piracy. The Senate on Wednesday decided to propose the creation of a special court to speed up prosecution in cases of arrested vessels, crew members taken hostage and other maritime crimes suspects, reports the news agency Xinhua. The goal is to effectively combat acts of piracy rampant in the Gulf of Guinea, undermining the oil industry in particular.
