Mediterranean: MSF ends mission of search and rescue boat Prudence

As a consequence of a drop in the number of boats reaching international waters in the Mediterranean Sea, MSF has decided to reduce its activities at sea and to end search and rescue operations of its boat Prudence. MSF will continue its presence in the Central Mediterranean with the ship Aquarius, run in coordination with SOS MEDITERRANEE, as well as continue to care for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in need in its projects in Libya and Italy.

MSF continues to express its high concern for the situation of people trapped, intercepted or returned to Libya where they are at risk of abuse and violence, and will continue to regularly reassess the situation and the humanitarian needs in this volatile and uncertain context.
