Duterte confirms Daesh grip on Mindanao

MANILA: President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte confirmed that Daesh extremists in the Middle East have gained a foothold in volatile Mindanao which, he warned, could turn into an “ugly situation” mainly due to the presence of foreign terrorists.

“The Daesh has gained a foothold in the southern part of the Philippines,” Duterte disclosed in a speech at the Bureau of Customs 110th anniversary celebration in Manila on Tuesday.
