Why piracy is high on Nigerian waters – Ex-Presidential aid

FORMER senior special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on maritime matters, Mr. Leke Oyewole, has expressed concern over the volume of Nigeria’s crude oil illegally taken to neighbouring countries, which leads to high piracy in Nigerian waters.

Oyewole who just returned from a trip to some of these countries disclosed that the smuggling of the nation’s crude oil to these countries has also fuelled the rate of pirate attacks on vessels across the Sub-region.
