‘Pirates’ Loot Oil Facilities in the Sonda de Campeche

The bands of “Mexican pirates” venture up to 130 kilometres offshore to assault the marine platforms and the Pemex ships located in the Sonda de Campeche. From those facilities, they steal tools, machines, copper cable, fire extinguishers and even well pressure control modules and consoles. The robberies, more and more frequent, without the Mexican Navy being able to do anything against these “pirates”, have occurred the maritime-northwest region where the Cantarell complex and the Ku-Maloob-Zaap (KMZ) deposits are located.

Another zone of attack is the maritime-southwest region, on the coast of Tabasco and Abkatún-Pol-Chuc (APC), which is located between Campeche and Tabasco, 132 kilometres from the Port of Dos Bocas.
