Smuggling, piracy choke shipping business
Stakeholders in the maritime industry said that business activities suffered a serious setback this year, especially in the port sector because of weak infrastructure, bad policies and harsh operating environment.
They also complained that the impact of the Federal Government on Ease of Doing Business was not felt in the sector, as charges introduced by shipping lines and truck owners affected both import and export trade between January and December, 2018.
