Sintraport Ends Strikes at Barcelona Port

March 20: Spanish autonomous truck drivers association Sintraport has decided not to call new mobilisations and to sit down again on the negotiating table.

Making the decision had been difficult, as a section of Sintraport’s members supported continuing the protests, but the board considered that it has taken a “smart” decision and that the last weeks “have been a success”, the president of the association, Vicente Rodríguez, said.

For now, the association has decided to continue working jointly with the parties involved as it has done in recent months, although it does not rule out future labour actions, he added.

On the other hand, Rodríguez emphasised that, during the protests, “we have shown to all the administrations and police our plans”. In the coming weeks new meetings will take place to advance the negotiations.
