Initial Reports of Anchored Chemical Tanker Hijacked from Lome, Togo. Recovered Quickly.

May 12: Limited information available indicating that an unspecified number of armed persons boarded and hijacked an anchored chemical tanker at Lome Anchorage and took its crew hostage. The Togo Navy reportedly received a call from the owners that their tanker had been attacked, and immediately responded by dispatching patrol boats. The hijacked tanker was intercepted 25nm from the anchorage area and forced to return to Lome port. The crew was reported safe and the armed persons were captured and handed over to authorities.
