42kg Cocaine Seized on Vessel in Port Purcell, Tortola, BVI

July 25: Police and customs officers seized 44.2 kilograms of cocaine last Thursday aboard a boat named Krautsand at Port Purcell (Tortola, British Virgin Islands), the Police Information Office reported. Guyanese media reported that the vessel was registered in Guyana and intercepted in Tortola.

The cocaine was concealed in 200 bags of thin-set cement on three pallets, according to Police Information Officer Akia Thomas.

Ms. Thomas added that the vessel came to the VI from Trinidad containing building materials. Multiple people have been interviewed, but police had not announced any arrests as of press time yesterday afternoon.

This seizure comes soon after cocaine was discovered and seized at Point Lisas Port in Trinidad on July 19.
