Scrap Metal Stolen From Barge in Westbound Lane of Singapore Strait TSS Again

July 16: At approx. 04:30 LT the tug boat SUNG FATT 31 and barge SUNG FATT 36 were carrying scrap metal bound for Penang, Malaysia in the westbound lane of the traffic separation scheme (TSS) of the Singapore Strait. While underway approx. 0.6nm west of the North Nipa Beacon, the master of SUNG FATT 31 reported to the Singapore Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS) that his crew spotted some perpetrators boarding the barge from an unknown number of sampans.

The perpetrators stole an unspecified quantity of scrap metal and escaped via the sampans. There was no confrontation between the perpetrators and the crew.
