Suspicious Approach 70 NM From South Bonny, Nigeria

Aug 07: At approx. 14:00 LT while transiting from offshore to Calabar at +/- 70nm south Bonny, the oil products tanker HALLAM (IMO #9351749) was approached by a black coastal patrol craft with 7 men on board. The craft approached the port quarter of the tanker at a distance of approx. 9 nm, at which point the alarm was raised and crew retreated to the citadel on the tanker. An armed security team on-board fired warning shots, after which the coastal patrol craft aborted their approach and turned back offshore. No injuries nor damage reported.
