Theft Aboard Crude Oil Tanker Near Bandar, Penawar, Malaysia

August 26 04:45 LT: While at anchor, four unauthorized persons armed with knives and sharp object(s) boarded the crude oil tanker RIDGEBURY EAGLE (IMO #9233753) from a wooden raft by climbing the anchor chain and entering through the hawse pipe. The crew raised the alarm and sounded the whistle. The unauthorized persons escaped with a 6- man life raft, and a few fire hose and nozzles. There was no confrontation between the perpetrators and the crew. The crew is reportedly safe. The Malaysian authorities have been notified.
