CORRECTION: False Report of Attack/Hijacking of OSV Near Port Gentil, Gabon

UPDATE October 29: The below incident has now been confirmed to have been misreported. The vessel was reportedly not attacked, but did require medical support.

UPDATE October 24, 19:07 UTC: The vessel has reportedly been escorted by the local authorities to the Port Gentil anchorage area for control. (MDAT-GoG)

October 24, 10:45 UTC: Initial UNCONFIRMED reports that an offshore support vessel in position 01°46’00”S 009°09’00“E (approx. 7nm off Port Gentil, GABON). Was attacked or possibly hijacked and is now being used on other irregular activity. Vessels are advised to exercise extreme caution in this area.
