Panamanian Police Seize Over 5 Tons of Narcotics From Semi-Submersible; 4 Suspects Arrested
February 19: Panamanian authorities have seized over 5 tons of unspecified narcotics from a semi-submersible vessel off the coast near the province of Bocas del Toro.
Officers with Panama’s National Aeronaval Service were patrolling the country’s territorial waters Wednesday when they found the “homemade” vessel. They seized the vessel and the narcotics, and arrested four Colombian nationals.
The ministry did not specify what type of narcotics were seized in the raid, but smugglers have previously been caught using similar vessels to transport cocaine into the United States and Europe.
