Strike at Lisbon Port May Continue to Challenge Operations Until March 30

March 12: Hapag-Lloyd has announced that the Lisbon Stevedores Union has staged a strike that includes a full stoppage in Lisbon port, which it says will continue until 8.00am 30 March 2020.

The strike began on 19 February with partial work from stevedores, one shift only, but since 29 February operations at the terminal have completely stopped.

Leixões and Sines ports are working normally, as the strike affects only the Port of Lisbon, according to Hapag-Lloyd.

The German shipping firm said that cargoes previously handled in Lisbon can be loaded through Leixões port by rail with additional costs.
