Suspicious Approach of Tanker 50nm South of Lomé, Togo

March 05, 07:46 UTC: Initial reports that the oil/chemical tanker STI BOSPHORUS (IMO #9785691) was approached by a skiff with 9-10 POB near position 05°21’45N, 001°31’48E 50 NM south of Lomé, Togo. The BOSPHOROUS took evasive maneouvers, increased speed, and activated the fire hoses. The skiff approached to less than 1NM from the tanker before breaking off pursuit.
