Theft By Approx. 20 Persons Aboard Barge Under Tow In Kutubdia Channel, Bangladesh

February 28, 08:30 LT: While tug boat TERAS CAESAR (IMO #9625982) towing barge MARITIME FAITH was underway in Kutubdia Channel in Bangladesh (approx. posn. 21° 27.5’ N, 91° 44’ E) , about 20 unauthorized persons boarded the barge from three fishing boats. The master of the tug boat sounded the alarm and all crew were on standby for possible boarding of the tug boat. The unauthorized persons eventually escaped with stolen items including lashing equipment, rope, manhole cover and steel stopper from the barge. The incident was reported to the Bangladesh Navy and Singapore Port Operations Control Centre.
